According to the Center for Disease Control and prevention: 7 out of 10 deaths among Americans each year are from chronic diseases; Heart disease, cancer and stroke account for more than 50% of all deaths each year; In 2005, 133 million Americans - almost 1 out of every 2 adults - had atleast one chronic illness. The reality is, a massive amount of our populations already lives with chronic diseases. In many of our other certifications we focus on prevention of diseases, disabilities and dysfunctions. Our Special Populations Trainer, however, is focused on treating individuals that have already been diagnosed with a chronic disease. Today, we know exercise prescription can be the very best treatment protocols for myriad chronic diseases, disabilities and dysfunctions afflicting our society. Exercise programming for people with chronic conditions has proven to increase their quality of life with respect to social, psychological and physical well-being. The Special Populations Trainer will provide Personal Trainers will the precise knowledge, skills, and abilities needed in order to safely and effectively train individuals with cardiovascular diseases; pulmonary diseases; metabolic diseases; immunological and hematological disorders; orthopedic diseases and disabilities; neuromuscular disorders; and cognitive, psychological and sensory disorders.
