MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS SOC Code 21-1013 Entry Salary $23.94/hr Average Salary $24.23/hr Job Description Marriage and Family Therapists provide professional marital and family therapy services and treatment to individuals, family groups and marital pairs, singly or in groups. Marital and family therapy includes but is not limited to the diagnosis and treatment, including psychotherapy, of nervous, emotional, and mental disorders, whether cognitive, affective or behavioral, within the context of marital and family systems. Marital and family therapy involves the professional application of psychotherapeutic and family systems theories and techniques in the delivery of services to individuals, marital pairs or families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed nervous and mental disorders. Requirements 1. Age of majority. 2. Has earned a Masters or Doctorate degree in marriage and family therapy from an accredited college or university. 3. Has demonstrated that (s)he has completed 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience including a minimum of 1,200 hours of direct client contact, with 500 hours providing direct clinical services to couples and families. 4. An applicant shall have a minimum of one hundred (100) post graduate hours of clinical supervision with a DQCS 5. Has a passing score on either the Association of Marital and Family Therapists Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB) examination or another examination as may be approved by the Board. Continuing Education Licensees must complete a minimum of three hours of continuing education activites in professsional ethics and three hours of continuing education activities in suicide assement and prevention each two year renewal cycle. Restrictions Felony conviction. Misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude. School Located in Wyoming There are no schools in Wyoming for Marriage and Family Therapists. License Marriage and Family Therapists engaged in practice in Wyoming are licensed by the Mental Health Professions Licensing Board. Licenses expire every two years on the licensee birthday. Examination The examination is conducted by The Association of Marital and Family Therapists Regulatory Boards (AMFTRB).
