License Description
SURVEYORS SOC Code 17-1022 Entry Salary $24.57/hr Average Salary $30.96/hr Job Description Surveyors measure the earths surface to determine the contour, location and dimension of land features. Requirements Surveyor by examination: 1. Pass the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) examination. 2. Pass the Wyoming take-home examination. 3. Pass the Wyoming State Specific examination. 4. Must have four years of land surveying experience (in addition to any experience required for land surveying intern certificate) that must include at least one year of office experience and one year of field experience in land surveying. Surveyor by examination for doctoral degree: 1. Arrange to have transcripts sent directly to board from NCEES or registrar of educational institution. 2. Provide the names and addresses of immediate supervisors from past and present employment. 3. Supply the names and addresses of three licensed professional references. 4. Authorize board to investigate applicant education, experience, credentials and background. 5. Provide experience verification either through experience verificaton forms from past and present employers or by submission NCEES record book. 6. Passing score on examinations as required by the board. Land Surveyor Intern: 1. Be of good moral character and repute. 2. Pass the NCEES Fundamentals of Surveying examination. 3. Completion of a curriculum approved by the board of at least four years" that may be an undergraduate or graduate degreein surveying or geomatics that is accredited by ABET/EAC ABET/ETAC or ABET/ANSEC an undergraduate or graduate degree in an engineering program that is accredited by ABET/EAC and includes at least thirty semester credit hours of surveying or an undergraduate or graduate degree that includes thirty semester credit hours of surveying and also contains other specific coursework as set by the board. 4. Or completion of a "curriculum approved by the board of at least two years" that may be an associate degree in surveying or geomatics or an an associate degree that includes at least thirty credit hours of surveying and other coursework as specified by the board AND two years of combined office and field experience in land surveying of which one year should have been in charge of land surveying projects under the supervision of a licensed professional land surveyor. Continuing Education Licensees must complete a minumum of 30 continuing professional competencies (CPCs) each renewal period. See board rules and regulations for CPC conversion for each type of continuing education. Restrictions Fraud or deceit in obtaining registration. Gross negligence misconduct or incompetence in practice. Violation of any provision of land surveying law. License Professional Land Surveyors are licensed in Wyoming by the Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors. License expires on December 31st of the initial year of issue and then every two years on December31st.
