License Description MEDICAL ASSISTANTS SOC Code 31-9092 Entry Salary $15.93/hr Average Salary $19.86/hr Job Description Speech-Language Pathology Assistants work under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist or audiologist assuming duties such as conducting speech-language screenings; carrying out prescriptive programming; providing direct treatment assistance; assisting with informal documentation; charting and graphing clients progress; keeping a daily log of specific problems; reporting progress to his/her supervisor; scheduling activities, preparing charts, records, graphs, or otherwise displaying data; performing simple checks and maintenance of equipment; and participating with his/her supervisor in research projects, in-service training, and public relations programs. Requirements 1. Either have an AssociateGÇÖs Degree as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant or a Bachelors Degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent, from an accredited college or university and one of the following: (a) Completion of a SPLA training certificate program through an accredited college or university; (b) Completion of ASHA SLPA requirements; or (c) Equivalent training as determined by the Board.; AND 2. Successfully complete a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised field work or its equivalent clinical practicum that includes a minimum of 80 hours of direct patient/client/student services under the supervision of a SLP and 20 hours of indirect patient/client/student services under the supervision of a SLP. Continuing Education A minimum of twelve (12) continuing education education units must be completed annually prior to license expiration. Restrictions Unprofessional conduct. School Located in Wyoming There are no schools for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants in Wyoming. License Speech-Language Pathology Assistants in Wyoming must be licensed by the Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology. Licenses expire annually on December 31st.
