License Description MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE SOCIAL WORKERS SOC Code 21-1023 Entry Salary N/A Average Salary N/A Job Description Clinical Social Workers apply social work theory and methods to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of pyschosocial dysfunction, disability or impairment, including emotional and mental disorders. Practice is based on knowledge of one or more theories of human development within a pyschosocial context. The perspective of person-in-situation is central to professional social work practice. Professional clinical social work includes but is not limited to interventions directed to interpersonal interactions, intrapsychic dynamics, and life support and management issues. Professional clinical social work services consist of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, including psychotherapy and counseling, client-centered advocacy, consultation and evaluation with individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations. Requirements 1 Age of majority. 2 .Has received a Masters or Doctorate degree in clinical social work. 3. Demonstrated knowledge in the field of clinical social work. 4. Demonstrated that (s)he has completed 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience including a minimum of 1200 hours of direct client contact. Clinical training is to take place after the award of the Masters degree. 5. Minimum 100 hours of clinical supervision with a DQCS. 6. A passing score on a clinical level examination from the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) or other board approved examination. Continuing Education During each renewal period a licensee must complete at least three hours of continuing education activities in professional ethics and three hours of continuing education activities in suicide assessment or intervention. Restrictions Felony conviction. Misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
