License Description PROSTHETIST

A prosthetist is an allied health professional who is specifically trained and educated to provide or manage the provision of a custom designed, fabricated, modified, and fitted external limb prosthesis to a prosthetic patient, based on a clinical assessment and a prescription from a health care practitioner authorized to write such prescriptions, to restore physiological function or cosmesis.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Baccalaureate degree and completion of a prosthetic education program which is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or its successor organization. Successful completion of a clinical residency in prosthetics and all examinations required by Rule 1155-4-.08.

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Renewal required by expiration date.
