DIETITIAN/NUTRITIONIST
License Description DIETITIAN/NUTRITIONISTS

Dietitians and nutritionists provide medical nutrition therapy and nutritional education; set up and supervise food service systems for institutions such as hospitals, prisons and schools; do research; and develop and administer nutrition care standards and systems.

REQUIREMENTS:
Be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character and satisfy education, experience, and examination requirements.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of a baccalaureate degree in a program approved by the Board of Dietitian/Nutritionist Examiners.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
As required by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (Formerly the American Dietetic Association). Must be completed prior to taking the examination.

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
National examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS:
Every two (2) years.
