Real Estate Appraisers appraise improved or unimproved real property to determine value for purchase, sale, investment, mortgage, or loan purposes. Develop a written appraisal, giving an opinion of the value of a property by applying knowledge of relevant market information (location, depreciation, value of similar property, income potential, etc.). There are four classes of appraiser: Apprentice Appraiser; Licensed Residential Appraiser; Certified Residential Appraiser, and Certified General Appraiser.

Licensure or Certification Requirements:
- The requirements listed below are based on administrative rule changes effective January 1, 2015. All requirements are subject to change.
- Apprentice Appraiser
- Submit application and application fee
- Complete a minimum of 75 hours of qualifying coursework within the five-year period prior to the date of application submission. A specific list of approved courses can be found in Rab 302.9 (d).
- All qualifying education must be taken in a classroom setting
- Must take an Apprentice Trainee course
- The supervisory appraiser must take a Supervisor course
- Must be supervised by a New Hampshire certified appraiser in good standing for the preceeding three years in any jurisdiction in which he/she holds licensure or certification, with a minimum of three years as a certified appraiser, with whom the apprentice may gain experience hours
- Provide an affidavit signed by the apprentice's supervisor and notarized
- The apprentice must maintain an on-going log of experience hours, which must be signed by the apprentice's supervisor on a monthly basis
- Submit a notarized criminal history record release form for fingerprinting
