Landscape Architects perform professional services in connection with the development of land areas. The purpose of such services is the preservation, enhancement or determination of proper land uses, natural land features, ground cover and planting, naturalistic and aesthetic values, the setting, approaches or environment for structures of other improvements, natural drainage and the consideration and determination of inherent problems of the land relating to erosion, wear and tear, blight or other hazards, to the extent that such services protect public health, safety and welfare. The practice of landscape architecture includes production of graphic and written material for use in the planning and design of land development programs, as well as consultation, research, stewardship, analysis, investigation, reconnaissance, and construction overview.

Licensure Requirements:
- Good professional character
- United States citizenship or the legal ability to work in the United States is required
- One of the following educational and experiential qualifications:
- An accredited four-year landscape architecture degree or equivalent and three years professional experience under the direct supervision of a licensed landscape architect; or
- A non-accredited four-year landscape architecture degree or a four-year degree in a related field including, but not limited to, engineering, architecture, geology, geography, planning, botany, forestry, environmental design, garden design, environmental studies, environmental science, ecology or soil science, and five years professional experience, three of which shall be under the direct supervision of a licensed landscape architect
