Asbestos Disposal Site Workers are permitted to disturb asbestos at asbestos disposal sites for a licensed asbestos disposal site contractor. There must be at least one experienced asbestos disposal site worker on site, and there must be at least one experienced, certified asbestos disposal site worker for every certified asbestos disposal site worker-in-training.

Certification Requirements:

• Must complete a basic training program or combination of programs that cover the basics of asbestos and the health effects associated with asbestos, along with state-of-the-art work practices for disturbing asbestos at asbestos disposal sites, and other topics as specified in the NH Administrative Rules Part Env-A 1813
• Must read and comprehend all information provided in a document published by the NH Department of Environmental Services in May 2000, titled Guidance for Managing Asbestos Disposal Sites
• Must have at least 40 hours of work experience at an asbestos disposal site, otherwise the applicant would qualify as an Asbestos Disposal Site Worker-in-Training. An applicant applying for an Experienced Asbestos Disposal Site Worker may substitute up to 10 hours of the required 40 hours using one of a combination of work experience at a hazardous waste site or certification as an asbestos abatement worker or supervisor.

Examination: Required – third party written examination consisting of at least 50 multiple-choice questions administered by the Asbestos Control Program, Air Resources Division, Department of Environmental Services; attaining a score of 70 percent or greater

Continuing Education: Annual refresher training self-administered by the certificate holder, and passing a third-party written examination with a score of 70 percent or greater
