A Service Technician installs, services, repairs, certifies, reconditions, tests or calibrates commercial weighing or measuring devices. Such weighing or measuring devices those that are commercially used or employed in establishing the size, quantity, extent, area, or measurement of quantities, things, produce, or articles for distribution or consumption that are purchased, offered or submitted for sale, hire, or award, or used in computing any basic charge or payment for services rendered on the basis of weight or measure. The term includes any accessory attached to or used in connection with a device when such accessory is so designed or installed such that its operation affects, or could affect, the accuracy of the device.

Registration Requirements:
- Submit application and registration fee
- Applicants must indicate on the application form and pay a fee for each device category or categories for which the applicant desires to be registered to work. Device categories for registration purposes are as follows:
- Category A: Scales, capacity of 30 lbs or less, except precision scales, jewelers scales, or pharmaceutical scales
- Category B: Scales, capacity greater than 30 lbs up to and including 300 lbs
- Category C: Scales, capacity greater than 300 lbs up to and including 3,000 lbs
- Category D: Scales, capacity greater than 3,000 lbs up to and including 20,000 lbs, except vehicle scales
- Category E: Scales, capacity greater than 20,000 lbs, except vehicle scales
- Category F: Vehicle scales
- Category G: Analytical balances
- Category H: Retail motor fuel dispensers, except LP gas and natural gas dispensers
- Category I: LP gas retail motor fuel dispensers
- Category J: Natural gas retail motor fuel dispensers
- Category K: Vehicle tank met
