Mortgage Brokers, Bankers and Agents
License Description
Employees of mortgage brokers who conduct mortgage activities must be licensed as Mortgage Agents. Applicants for mortgage agent licensure must meet the following requirements: 1) Have not been convicted of, or entered a plea of, no contest to a felony within the preceding 7 years, or at any time if the felony involved fraud, dishonesty or a breach of trust or money laundering. 2) Have never had a license or registration as a Mortgage Agent, Mortgage Banker, Mortgage Broker or residential mortgage loan originator revoked in this State or any other jurisdiction or had a financial services license revoked within the immediately preceding 10 years. 3) Have not made a false statement of material fact on the application. 4) Have not violated any provision of NRS chapter 645B or 645E, a regulation adopted pursuant to those provisions, or an order of the Commissioner. 5) Have demonstrated financial responsibility, character and general fitness so as to command the confidence of the community and warrant a determination that s/he will operate honestly, fairly and efficiently for the purposes of Chapter 645B or Chapter 645E of NRS. 6) Undergo a background check. 7) Have successfully completed pre-licensing and testing requirements. Mortgage brokers and bankers must also be licensed in Nevada. Visit the Division website for more information on the requirements for licensure. Fees may be subject to change. Fees are: mortgage agent application--$185; agent annual renewal-- $165; exam fee --$60/hour; mortgage broker or banker application --$1,500; broker or banker license -- $1000 (first year) and $500 renewal.
