Occupational Description


Branding means a permanent mark made on human tissue by burning with a hot iron or other instrument. A Body Brander makes a permanent mark on a person by burning it into their skin.

Licensure Requirements


o become a licensed Body Brander, applicants must: 1. Be at least 18 years of age; 2. Have a high school diploma or GED; 3. Have completed at least 4 hours of training within 3 years immediately prior to application submission. Such training must include: A. At least 2 hours of bloodborne pathogens (disease)training, which includes sanitation, infection control, and sterilization. An examination is required as a condition of training completion. The examination must include questions relating to the following- (a) Sanitation; (b) Safety (including emergency procedures); (c) Infection control, including cross contamination and barrier control; and (d) Sterilization including use of an autoclave; B. A basic first aid class which teaches participants how to- (a) Recognize emergency situations; (b) Check the scene and call for help; (c) Avoid bloodborne pathogen exposure; (d) Care for wounds; (e) Manage sudden illnesses; (f) Minimize shock. 4. Be of good character; 5. Provide proof that the applicant is a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted into the United States who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act, or a nonimmigrant lawfully present in the United States who is eligible for a credential under the Uniform Credentialing Act.

Initial License- $95.00

Renewal


Renewal Fee- $118.00 Licensees are required on or before March 31 of each odd-numbered year to complete at least 2 hours of bloodborne pathogens (disease) training, which must include sanitation, infection control, and sterilization, and pass an examination as a condition of training completion.
