Certified Interior Designer
License Description General requirements for certification: 1. Complete a degree in interior design that is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), OR complete a four-year degree in interior design accepted by the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ), OR complete a degree in architecture from a program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB); 2. Take and pass the NCIDQ Examination (exam eligibility requires experience completed in accordance with CIDQ guidelines); 3. Complete the required application and pay the application fee. See Miss. Code Ann. Sections 73-73-7 and 73-73-11. Note: Additional paths to state certification include (1) passing the NCIDQ Examination before January 1, 2012, and (2) being a Mississippi-licensed architect (who does not have a degree from a NAAB-accredited program) or engineer and passing the NCIDQ Examination. Note: Pursuant to the provisions of the Military Family Freedom Act and the Universal Recognition of Occupational Licenses Act, Mississippi shall recognize occupational licenses obtained from other states. Note: Mississippi has a title act restricting use of the title Certified Interior Designer. In order to use this title, one must be certified by the Board. Certification is NOT required to practice interior design.
