License Description Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to the economical solution of practical technical problems. They design industrial machinery; develop scientific equipment; supervise the construction of buildings and highways; design consumer products and various other innovations; and, evaluate the overall effectiveness of new products and operations, as well as the cost and reliability. Responsibilities may include inspection, quality control, management and administration. Engineers typically specialize in one of more than 25 specialties recognized by professional societies.
