License Description They initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment. National certification is available for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) and Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT). Applicant requirements: at least 18 years of age; good moral character; graduate from an accredited respiratory therapy program; provide a letter of recommendation by a licensed physician in Georgia who serves as medical director or advisor; credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care at the technician entry level; pass a written and clinical exam Applicant requirements for Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT): 18 years of age or older; minimum of an associate degree from a respiratory therapy education program supported or accredited by CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP; pass exam Applicant requirements for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT): 18 years of age or older; currently be a CRT; minimum of an associate degree from an advanced level respiratory therapist educational program supported or accredited by CoARC, JRCRTE, or CAAHEP OR four years of full-time clinical experience in respiratory care under licensed medical supervision with 62 semester hours of college credit in approved coursework or an associate degree from an accredited entry level respiratory therapy program OR bachelor's degree in an area other than respiratory care and two years of full-time clinical experience in respiratory care under licensed medical supervision; pass exam Fees: Application: $75.00 Testing: $190.00 Renewal: $80.00 (every 2 years) Late: $150.00 Reinstatement: $200.00 Examination: Type: Written and clinical When: Monday - Friday Where: AMP testing centers Repeats: Unlimited For national certification for Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) contact: National Board for Respiratory Care 8310 Nieman Road Lenexa, KS 66214-1579 Phone: 913.599.4200 Fax: 913.541.0156 E-mail: nbrc-info@nbrc.org http://www.nbrc.org
