Asbestos Contractor
License Description Asbestos Contractor: a person engaged in asbestos abatement whose employees perform asbestos abatement work and who has been issued a license by the Commissioner. Asbestos Supervisor: a certified individual who supervises abatement projects. A Supervisor must be onsite at abatement projects that are federally regulated under both the Clean Air Act, "Asbestos National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants" (NESHAP) regulation (40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M) and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TCSA), Title 2, "Asbestos-Containing Materials in Schools" rule (40 CFR Part 763). The Supervisor may serve as the NESHAP competent person, provided the individual is trained under the provisions of 40 CFR, Part 61, Subpart M. Asbestos Worker: A certified individual who performs all phases of asbestos abatement, from establishing the regulated area with tape, barriers and signs to final cleaning prior to re-occupancy testing.
