Apprentice Embalmer
License Description
An apprentice embalmer is a person engaged in the study of embalming under the instruction and supervision of a licensed embalmer. Fees: Application: $120; Examination: None; License: None. Examination Frequency: N/A Exam Locations: N/A Experience Requirement: Must be a high school graduate (or equivalent) and employed in a funeral establishment. Average Time to Process Application: 20 days. Renewal Period: N/A Special License Requirements: Apprenticeship is for two years, and must be completed within six years of registration. Apprenticeship must be completed in order to qualify for a license as an embalmer. Authority: Business and Professions Code Sections 7660-7671; California Code of Regulations, Title 16, Sections 1225-1230.
