A Respiratory Care Practitioner is a health care professional employed under the supervision of a medical director involved in the therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities which affect the pulmonary system, and associated aspects of cardiopulmonary and other systems functions.
Fees: Application: $300
Once application is approved, the initial license is issued for a period of 13-24 months, depending upon the issuing month and an applicant's birth month.
Renewal: $330
Examination Frequency: Daily computerized testing is available throughout California. Examinations are administered by appointment Monday through Saturday.
Exam Locations: Agoura Hills, Arcata, Atascadero, Bakersfield, Burbank, Calimesa, Carson, Diamond Bar, El Monte–Santa Fe Springs, Fresno, Glendale, Irvine, Lawndale, Long Beach, Modesto (2), Redding, Riverside (2), Sacramento, San Diego (2), San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Union City, Ventura, Visalia, and Walnut Creek.
Experience Requirement: Students are required to complete clinical practice as part of their structured curriculum.
Average Time to Process Application: 2-6 weeks
Renewal Period: 24 months.
