Qualified Applicator License
License Description
Any person who uses or supervises the use of federally restricted use pesticides or state restricted materials for any purpose or on any property other than that provided by the definition of private applicator. Individuals with a Qualified Applicator License (QAL) may supervise the pesticide applications made by a licensed pest control business and are responsible for its safe and legal operation. The QAL shall include the categories of pest control activities they supervise. Exemptions: N/A Fees: Initial Application: $80; Renewal: $60 each year Examination Fee: $50 Examination Information: DPR's Licensing and Certification Program offers computer-based exams at testing centers state-wide for all individual licenses and certificates. Applications for all exams must be mailed to DPR's Licensing and Certification Program. You can find more examination information on DPR's website. Requirements: N/A Examination Requirements: An applicant for the Qualified Applicator License must pass the Laws, Regulations, and Basic Principles Examination and at least one of the following pest control category examinations: A -Residential, Industrial, and Institutional B - Landscape Maintenance C - Right-of-way D - Plant Agriculture E - Forest F - Aquatic G - Regulatory H - Seed Treatment I - Animal Agriculture J - Demonstration and Research K - Health Related L – Soil Fumigation M – Non-Soil Fumigation Average Time to Process Application: 30 days Renewal Period: Biennially (every second year). Twenty hours of approved continuing education during each two-year license period is required for renewal.
