Chiropractor
License Description
Chiropractors treat patients by adjusting the spinal column and other articulations of the body to correct abnormalities of the human body believed to be caused by interference with the nervous system. They manipulate spine or other involved area. They may utilize supplementary measures, such as exercise, rest, water, light, heat and nutritional therapy. Requirements: 1) Must be at least 21 years of age. 2) Must be of good moral character. 3) Must have a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from an approved chiropractic institution which includes 120 classroom hours of physiological therapeutics and not less than 4,400 fifty minute resident class hours or not less than 4 years of 9 academic months. Undergraduate courses must include not less than a total of sixty semester hours credits, of which a minimum of thirty semester hour credits must be in science subjects such as biology, zoology, chemistry, math, or other like subjects, with no less than a "C" average. 4) Must possess a valid National Board of Chiropractic Examiners certificate to include Parts I, II, III and IV and the physiological therapeutics section. 5) Must not have had a license to practice chiropractic in any other state suspended or revoked nor have been placed on probation for any cause. 6) Must have a letter of recommendation. 7) Must not have been convicted of a felony. 8) Must not be an habitual user of intoxicants, drugs, or hallucinatory preparations. 9) Must complete a Criminal Background check. 10) Must complete Jurisprudence exam after Application for Licensure is made. Written Jurisprudence examination required. Application fee: $150.00, Orientation fee: $50.00, Criminal Background Check: $36.25 (Federal and State together), Renewal fee: $250.00 per year for In-state Active, $125.00 per year for Out-of-State Active, $100.00 per year for Inactive, Late Renewal fee: $200.00
