Water Treatment Operator
License Description
Water Treatment Operators are responsible for adding the correct amounts of chemicals into the water and monitoring the equipment to ensure that the water is properly treated. They are also responsible for performing laboratory examinations to ensure the safety and potability of the finished treated water. In addition, they are responsible for monitoring and adjusting all the controls for cleaning, repairing, and lubricating the water treatment equipment as required. Requirements: Licenses are based on the size and complexity of the water distribution system. They range from the Grade I to Grade IV. 1) Must have a high school diploma or GED. 2) Must have completed all the mandatory training courses. 3) Must have completed a certification examination with a passing score. 4) Must have completed required water supply continuing education (24 hours per renewal) 5) Must have satisfactory work experience as determined in the application process. Examination: $25.00 per examination License Fee: $10.00 License Renewal Fee: $10.00 (every 2-year renewal) Late Renewal Penalty: $5.00
